Beneath the earth, in caverns forgotten by time, there thrives an ancient and forbidden cult: the Akulish, known to religious scholars as the Sarthak Flesh Gods. These dark deities are said to be composed of writhing tendrils and malformed bodies melded together by dark magic. The sarthak, a race of monstrous and twisted beings, revel in the perversion and corruption of the mortal flesh. It is the sarthak themselves that create these abhorrent entities which they then hold in reverence. They are the harbingers of decay and the dominion of flesh over spirit. To the sarthak, the body is but a vessel for suffering, its sanctity long discarded in favor of transformation through torment and dark alchemy. They gather in secret, performing unspeakable rites in which they tear, mold, and graft flesh together in vile mockery of life, summoning forth dark magics that warp and twist the very essence of existence. The Sarthak sacrifice to their flesh gods — not gold, but the flesh, blood, and living souls of victims. The sarthak believe that only through the degradation of the flesh can one attain divine communion with their great and terrible gods.
